What I Stand for as a School Board Member
Whole Child Framework: Committed to ensuring students are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. This includes comprehensive support for their physical, mental, emotional, and academic well-being, accomplished through a well-rounded district with access to sports, arts, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.
Support for Students and Families: Dedicated to providing excellent education and comprehensive support for both students and their families to ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Advocating for Financial Assistance: Focused on helping students access scholarships, grants, and other financial aid to make higher education more affordable and attainable.
Focus on Mental Health: Promoting mental health awareness and providing necessary resources for students and staff to create a supportive and understanding environment.
Community Engagement: Encouraging open communication and constructive dialogue within the community to ensure transparency and collaboration in decision-making.
Strong Support for Public Schools: Firm believer in the value of public schools and the importance of adequately funding them. Advocating against the expansion of school vouchers to ensure public tax dollars are used to benefit the community as a whole.
Fiscal Responsibility: Committed to responsible financial decisions that optimize resources for the greatest educational impact. I strongly oppose the idea of "burning it all down" to save money, and I believe a state takeover of a district is never a viable strategy.
Transparency and Accountability: Advocating for transparent processes and accountability within the school district to build trust and ensure that the community's voice is heard.
Protecting Against Outside Influence: Standing firm against outside influence and "chaos agents" that distract our administrators and staff from their primary goal of educating students. The basic goal of a public school is to provide a free, high-quality education to all children, preparing them to be successful and responsible citizens.
Continuous Improvement: Dedicated to the continuous improvement of our schools by staying informed about the latest educational trends, attending relevant conferences, and bringing back valuable insights to benefit our district.
